Who we are

Republic Design Studio is a Landscape Architecture practice led by passion, purpose and skill with over 25 years experience in design, construction, horticulture and land management.

We live and practice in South East Queensland where we are deeply connected to both the urban and wild natures of our region. Our work is influenced by the wild landscapes of South East Queensland and our love for life outdoors.

Our studio was formed to create space and time for ourselves and our collaborators to deep dive into the design process. We see landscapes as ideas to be constructed and experienced, not just imagined.

We are curious and creative collaborators interested in sharing our passion for life outdoors and its transformational potential for the people in the places in which we practice.

Our Purpose

Making places that matter.

We beleive there are two natures in life. ‘First Nature’ - the wild landscapes that are untamable and pure. ‘Second Nature’ - human made environments where we create our own landscapes and experiences.

Our purpose is to use ‘Second Nature’ as a vessle for experiences that are deeply meanigful and connective. Our work aims to facilitate life outdoors that feels effortless and wholesome.

All projects have the potential for purpose and meaning no matter how big or small. They each sit within a physical and cultural context, and we seek to honor that inherit nature through as design process that is rigorous and methodical whilst also creative and adventurous.

Our design process is founded on purpose and meaning. Ideas are revealed through a investigation and analysis coupled with inspirational thinking.

Working with us is a calm and considered process where we foster healthy and respectful relationships that are mutually beneficial and long term. We are good listeners, excellent partners and relationships are as important to us as the design process itself.
